Two? A pair? Oops? <LOL> But not my oops -- unless the person I replied to was talking about a 1971-74 AMX. 1968-70 AMX has a 97" wheelbase, Gremlin has 96". I couldn't recall from memory if it was a one or two inch difference, or somewhere between, so I said "a couple". ;> > > Last time I posted a pdf of classes for an old car show: what I -intended- to post was a link to photos from an Olds car show that Nash-Rambler-AMC people can compare their hobby to. Did the 2004 or 2005 AMC homecomings [in Kenosha or wherever] count 400-500 cars, too? If not, why? Too few survivors? Hardly. Too few drivers? No way. Too many AMC fans -awaiting- magic? > > Maybe. The 1998 Kenosha Homecoming, and the 2002 Kenosha Homecoming both had all clubs participating in one form or another and had over 1500 cars at each show, IIRC. Everything from a 1902 Rambler up to the last cars to roll out of Kenosha -- a few Diplomats. Most were between and all AMC. So there CAN be big AMC shows. My feeling is we are to few and to far between to have a really big show like that every year. Keonsha, of course, has a special "magic" to it, and AMC enthusiasts will make the pilgrimage to "the AMC holy land" on occasion, especially with all clubs endorsing as at least a regional santioned event. That guarantees a big turn-out. But to have one like that every year? I don't think it's feasible because of the distances between active regions of AMC people, and it's really not fair. Everyone can't make the trip every year. I'm usually on a limited travel budget myself. That's why AMO and AMCRC bounce their annual National show around across the country -- every few! years members should be able to attend a National without traveling across the country. If it were held in one location all the time, say Kenosha, how many average AMC enthusiasts would never be able to go, or may only be able to attend once or twice in their lifetimes? We have to live within our means, and hobby travel is the first thing to go or be limited by budgets. Speaking of Kenosha Homecoming events, we were told to expect one every four years. That means it should be coming up for 2006. Is that going to happen? Anyone know? Or did the Kenosha Historical Society blow their limited budget for the 2004 AMC Anniversary show and get off track??? If there's going ot be a 2006 Kenosha event, I want to plan on going!! ============================================================= Posted by wixList Archiver -- http://www.amxfiles.com/wixlist
