the unit bodies of the AMX and Gremlin really are almost the same -- the AMX
has a couple inches more wheelbase.

If -one- is "a couple" now, Frank, what would, say, -thirteen more- be
called?
Two? A pair? Oops? <LOL>
Last time I posted a pdf of classes for an old car show: what I -intended- to
post was a link to photos from an Olds car show that Nash-Rambler-AMC people
can compare their hobby to. Did the 2004 or 2005 AMC homecomings [in Kenosha
or wherever] count 400-500 cars, too? If not, why? Too few survivors?
Hardly. Too few drivers? No way. Too many AMC fans -awaiting- magic?
Maybe.

There's magic in numbers. Numbers mean markets and critical mass means more
magic. Too many AMC people now stop counting at the magic number of 401.

Since I was in on part of the planning for Kenosha 2002 & 2004 I am fairly
well qualified to comment
on this part of the question. The city of Kenosha mapped out a total of 960
some spaces for Kenosha 2002. The clubs turned in an estimate of how many
cars each club would and the total was a very optimistic figure we felt of
850 preregistered cars as of a couple weeks before Kenosha 2002. Which
seemed an unrealistic figure. On the day of the show for Kenosha 2002 the
counted 1100 cars. The AMC
club officers felt a good of cars were counted twice since you could only
get 950 plus on the show field in the park. So John I counter you 400 or
500 and raise you a good 900 plus for Kenosha 2002. I believe AMO judged
some where around 350 cars just on the AMO part of the show field. Never
mind the other 4 clubs.
The Kenosha 2004 show was not quite as well attended but still hand a good
400 or 500 cars even without the full co-operation of most of the Nash and
AMC clubs. The 2004 show was the end of AMC World clubs but most serious
AMC people belong to more then one club.
Aa far as engines go Indy Cylinder heads builds a block that can be used as
a replacement for 360 and 401s. Yes, it's aluminum and yes it's expensive ,
but they fixed the oiling system and you make it as big as 520 Cubic
inches, even multiport fuel injection if you still got money.
John, stop being so cryptic with 20 URLs. Your just being more vague then
interesting. Thanks LRDaum
