They make magnetized oil drain plugs and other items for a reason - to pick up and hold metal filings that come off the engine, and hold them to prevent going BACK thru the oil passages. If the dipstick is magnetized, you can find the metal on it. If the tube is magnetized, it'll just hold the stuff in the pan indefinitely ( better than it circulating in your oil! ). So, bottom line, leave it, it's a GOOD thing. Hot rodders spend extra $ on this sort of stuff, you have an interesting setup. WOnder if someone earlier in the car's ownership did it?
