" From: JOE FULTON <piper_pa20@xxxxxxxxxxx> " " Anecdotal: " " My 76 Gremlin has a multipattern bell. by then they were definitely using both trannies; in fact the '76 grem was the last t-14 user. i don't know if the t150 started sneaking in late '74; '75 was the first full year. " It had the T14 installed, but I have T-150 w/od for it. you might want to stay 'authentic' or have a column shift you want to keep, but if neither of those are important and you still want an o/d, hunt up an iron cased 4sp o/d from a late-'70s granada. this is a direct drop-in for the t150 3sp; same length, splines, bolt pattern - even rear mount i believe. you also need a 4sp shifter but you can put it in the stock 3sp floor location. fyi they converted the conventional toploader 4sp - which from a small or midsize ford is also a drop-in swap - by reversing the 3-4 shift so that '3rd' is 1:1, then regearing so that '4th' is overdrive instead of underdrive. there are two gearsets: '79-up v8s have a 30% o/d with 1st and 2nd very close to the 150t; all others have a 20% o/d with 1st and 2nd lower [not taller as you'd think]. i believe some early/mid '80s pickups also had these iron cased overdrives. cars except for the early granada went to the 'srod', which is the toploader redesigned into an aluminum case with t5-like internal shifter and unaccountably 5/8" longer input shaft, though the proper granada input can be used.
