Per recent conversation on the list -- a federal safety standard enacted 01 January 1968 made AMC put the full length floor braces (they don't actually connect the front and rear rails) in all cars built after that date. I posted previously the 68 final assembly numbers that the braces started under from the parts book. Prior to January 68 only convertibles and hardtops got the floor bracing -- see Larry's post as well.
