A Borg-Warner Model 12 is an automatic transmission. Muncie or Saginaw (GM) may have had a model 12 stick shift -- I know they used model numbers (M-22 "Rock Crusher" four speed, for example). But if it's an AMC transmission, it's the BW M-12 auto.
