Doc, there is a big collector interest in old farm equipment, especially tractors, in farming country. Retired farmers playing with the stuff they first worked with, I guess. Much the same as a guy buying a car he parted with long ago. Regular shows and even pulls. You'd have to have grown up in rural America to appreciate it, I guess! >Sorry > for the long post but girl friends, wives and cars are hard to deal > with. I have seen many friends sell nice cars because their wives and > girl friends said so!!! Before we got married I told my wife the Rambler had seniority, it wouldn't be a good idea to decide "it or me" later. I encourage her to be a part of the hobby affair, but her idea of "participation" is (sometimes grudgingly) tagging along for the ride to shows and being tolerant of the time and energy it consumes. I do my best to balance hobby and family time, and combine when I can. I've taken the family to a show, spent one day at the show, the next doing family things. Works okay. I tend to agree -- as long as it's not taking away from the family necessities no one should complain. But there has to be a balance between family time and hobby time, and she has to be given consideration for her hobbies as well. When budgets are more limited (as mine have been in the past!), it's a different story. My balance for that issue was to have a hobby/driver. "Wife's car" is really the primary family car, and my hobby/driver is the second car. I bought a small motorcycle years ago for back-up transportation and to keep miles down on the Rambler. The bike turned into a bit of a hobby itself, but secondary. I'd give up the bike, won't the car! ============================================================= Posted by wixList Archiver -- http://www.amxfiles.com/wixlist
