" My 66 American/232 has a T-35 tranny, I guess and it has a rather harsh
" downshift from 3-1 when coming to a stop. It is harsh enough to cause a
" clunking noise (not the driveshaft as that has all been replaced, bushings
" and all). I see in the TSM that the tranny has a modulator valve and
" according to a friend who USED TO work on ATs, the modulator can cause this
" symptom. The TSM isn't very specific, but it looks like the modulator is
" INTERNAL (unlike my old Ford 390 of years ago). If so, I guess that's a job
" for a transmission shop.
how's the vac line? when i got my '67 marlin/232, it wouldn't shift
into high at all because the line [actually tranny fitting] was
broken, wedging it into 'full throttle kickdown' mode. it would shift
1-2 manually via d1/d2.
