Since the Nash/AMC early six bell to engine pattern was never used in anything except 1941 (earliest I can verify) to 1971 Nash/Rambler/AMC small sixes (172-195.6 -- I think the larger Nash sixes used a larger diameter bell, but I'm not positive), there have been no adapters. The transmissions used behind those engines generally are not usable for higher power applications, but have always been in enough supply to keep users happy. Only recently has there been a problem finding someone to repair B-W autos. Parts are still there, but finding someone knowledgeable enough to competently repair one is difficult. It hasn't been easy over the past 10 years or so, more difficult in some locations, but the old shops with people that remember working on them have been drying up a lot faster lately as people (and the cars) age. Might be time for a trans adapter, but I don't think there's enough market for one. Most people who want to swap engines will want a stronger trans for the eng! ine going in, and there are still transmissions available for restorers/drivers, though they are a bit harder to locate locally. -- Frank Swygert Publisher, "American Independent Magazine" (AIM) For all AMC enthusiasts http://farna.home.att.net/AIM.html (free download available!)
