while poking through the file, i also came across these from '97:

" From: Wog@xxxxxxxxx (Bill Green)
"
" Cathcart's Studebaker
" 43 Douglas Drive
" Plainfield, CT 06374
" (860) 564-5852
"
" The kit adapts the T-5 transmission from a Chevy S-10 truck to the
" Studebaker flathead 6. It includes a plate that bolts to the stock
" bellhousing, the trans then bolts to the plate. It uses a Stude pressure
" plate with a Chevy clutch disc. It also includes some mounts and pieces
" that wouldn't apply to your car.
"
" He sells the pieces separately. If your Rambler uses the same trans as
" the Stude, some of the parts will probably work. Give him a call. I'm
" sure he would be able to help you out. Haven't installed my kit yet.
" Bought a trans for $250 but it needed some bearings. Get it back
" tomorrow. Will start the swap next week.
"
" Let me know what you find out. What Rambler do you have?

" From: Wog@xxxxxxxxx (Bill Green)
"
" The trans I'm replacing is a T-96 3-speed.
"
" There's a couple of reasons I'm using the S-10 trans. One is the forward
" shifter location. I have a bench seat and want to keep it. With the
" Camaro trans, I would have to change to buckets. The second is the
" clutch disc used will only fit the 14 spline input shaft. I don't know
" if the Camaro has this or not. I suppose you could use the heavier duty
" internals in whatever case you want.

" From: Wog@xxxxxxxxx (Bill Green)
"
" I think that Bill Cathcart mentioned that he had used Camaro
" transmissions in some of his swaps. My kit was based on the S-10 trans
" using an 8 1/2 inch HD clutch.

a quick search turned up http://www.cathcartsstudebaker.com/
that's the same guy but no mention of tranny adapters.

afaik the stude t-96 is pretty darn close to the amc one. this might
be just the thing we need.

i've also been trying to run down an early-falcon adapter. they first
used t-96 trannies '61-5 or so, until the toploader 3sp appeared.
'hacksaw' al at inlinepages.com used to have some excellent tech pages
but they're now gone. he also used to make adapters but is now out
of the business and i couldn't get -any- details.
