i was poking through my amc-file mailbox tonight... many moons ago [aug '97!], i posted this: " From: adh@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (Sandwich Maker) " " had the brakes on my '68 american done recently. " " the fronts were okay but the rears needed a lot of work -- new drums, " shoes, spring kits... since then, the right rear has been very touchy " and locks up long before the other wheels. " " the drums have been checked for roundness. all the brakes have been " adjusted and re-adjusted. the only thing left [apparently] is the " wheel cylinders, but they aren't leaking and my mechanic doesn't " understand how else they could fail. i don't either. " " anyone have any ideas? i never did get it settled. well, after having my rear brakes done again recently, it turned out that the culprit was the wrong wheel cylinders! the previous 'mechanic' used 1 1/8" v8 cyls instead of 15/16" i6 cyls. to be fair, none of the online sites i tried caught this either, and if i hadn't had a tsm i wouldn't have known. but i'd think he would've noticed the cyls he put in didn't match the ones he took out. ________________________________________________________________________ Andrew Hay the genius nature internet rambler is to see what all have seen adh@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx and think what none thought
