Buy a Civic gas engine, the small economy engine with five speed, and you'll pay $5K less and still get mileage in the 40s, depending on how you drive. An auto trans version gets a few mpg less, but if you don't like shifting you won't mind. Yeah, the warranty sounds really good, and will help sales, but I still suspect that battery life will greatly affect re-sale value. The best thing to do is run it until the batteries need replacing under warranty, get them replaced, THEN sell or trade shortly after if you want another vehicle. Once people figure that one out Toyota will go crazy!
