It's pretty easy to get a quick look at you cooling system with a decent thermometer.
If the system is full and the pump working, you can simply measure the temperature drop from top hose to bottom hose.
I got 20 - 40 degrees difference (I forgot,and never wrote it all down) in the hornet or rambler both are two rows, mechanical fans, inline sixes.
If juice is flowing properly (pump good, hoses don't collapse, belt not slipping, block not totally plugged) and the radiator is doing it's job (tubes not clogged, air flowing) the engine will cool.
If it doesn't one of the above is wrong, or ignition timing is way retarded.
Even a badly undersized radiator will cool most engines most of the time (flat and level 35mph+ cruising), it's the rest of the time that yu tune for!
