They do have emissions inspections, they're just not as often as in other states like CA. Newer AZ cars ('91 up) usually don't have a problem passing the stricter emissions. How often and who does the testing I don't know, look up the Motor Vehicle Division of the State of Arizona on the web.

Just as an afterthought, I figured I'd ask. This guy
who's selling the '94 Jeep Cherokee to me said there's
no E or I required in AZ, but I thought I remembered
from the '80's that my friend had his done at a Gov't
drive-up station. Anyone know what's going on? Is that
legit? Or did AZ do away with Emissions and Inspection
requirements? Just curious,
