Re: Eagle engine swap?

A: The '87 to 08/90 is very easy to fit in. Putting the carb intake on the
later models requires minor grinding/welding and an extension of the EGR
tube. (cut the tube in a straight vertical section and use a tube joiner to
reassemble)

Howdy! i had a quick question i searched the archives as much as i could
but i didn't find exactly what i was lookin for, i have a 1986 Eagle with a
annoying engine ticking noise and worn rings that are allowing major blow by
(this thing emits smoke in vast quantities at around 65 mph) Anyway i was
looking in the junkyards and no one has any 4.2's that are worth anything
but ive been coming across plenty of 4.0's will the 4.0 block bolt up to
the 998 tranny? and will i have to modify anything like the int/exh
manifolds to use the 2bbl carb set up? or should i try to get the EFI stuff
to go along with the 4.0? and if i try to use the EFI will it work with a
non computer controlled tranny?
Ok sorry i quess that was a bunch o questions :)

btw its good to be back i was a member of the list awhile back
