Re: Well now isn't that special!

We kind of went non Ebay on the final transaction.
So, I don't have much to work with. The high bidder was a shill/sport bidder. He defaulted and I contacted the seller directly to see if he was going to relist it or sell it out right.
Thats when we started the negotiations and ended up with the $600 total price figure, which is actually less then the bid I placed. I bid it to $615 and would have had to pay another $200 to have it trucked down or towed it myself.
I spent all day yesterday gutting the interior. I now have all the stuff out except the evaporater and heater housing. and the rear quarter glass still needs pulled, though I have the regulaters and motors out, plus all the power window harnesses are out. I had to cut the harnesses to the rear motors as there is too much mud in the rockers to allow the connectors to come through easily and I was afraid I would end up getting them stuck and loosing them. So I will have to splice them. The motors themselves seem to be stuck and I don't know if that can be addressed. regulaters seem fine and in good shape. The front switches are good or appear to be,. The rears seem to be shot, but since they will be moving into the convertibles fibreglass panels it will be easy to cut holes for generic GM style switches for the back. I sould be able to find some sort of replacement motor with the way the system is designed.
I'm also 100% sure the timing chain on the motor is the new chain. It's all steel chain and gears and nice and tight and no apparent wear at all. That's good news.
Also real good news. the carb on the engine is a 6299-1 aftermarket Holley, Which is a 390 cfm carb. These are in demand and I can recoop some money from it easily if I wish. I also seems fine.
I'm still trying to make sure i get all the 990H stuff off this car.
I'm curious if the windshield is shared between the hardtop and the convertible and if the side glass is the same? Anyone know?
Windshield is perfect except for a dozen very small bubbles clear up at the top right side in the shaded area. So small I didn't even see them till I had cut the rubber and was carrying the windshield into the garage.
Radio looks like it may be salvageable, Tilt is out, I'm still in love with it. Are the strange remote turn signal switches available for the early tilt columns? Anyone know any one who does work on the old reverb units? I have it out and would love to put it in, in working order. Dash even looks O.K. and not too corroded.
I think I will be getting my $600 worth out in the long run.
Keep in mind if anyone wants any parts off of this to let me know.
Especially the rear glass, It is tinted and shaded, not something I have ever seen before in a back glass. I have no use for it and will sell it for a minimal amount.
Oh, Today I went to the bike shop and Bought a GIANT Ranier hardtail mountain bike. I got a $850 bike for $600 because the shop is moving and it is a 21" framed 2004 model and the guy wanted to move it. Now I've got both the mountain bike and the Ambassador! :]
  Good day!

>Didn't you buy this off of e-bay? If so you can always file a complaint and ask for a partial refund. Might not get anywhere, but then again the guy may send you $100 or so back. Won't hurt to try. You're not crying over it -- you have a legitimate complaint. Either the guy didn't know or was exagerrating condition. If you made the deal in private, well, you can still complain to e-bay since that's where you got the contact.
