My 68 American does the same clunking..on the right hand side. I've tightened a few things but its still there. it just passed a certification so the front end had to be tight. I suspect an A arm bushing because the bushing "sets" going forward and stays there, but when you back up and put on brakes it moves. It's most likely an upper A arm bushing, not the lower. Turning will put more pressure on one of the upper bushings depending on the direction of turn. Have the bushings ever been changed? > > On August 22, 2005 Bargain Bob Petersen wrote: > > > Happy Monday listers ! > > > > Got the Marlin back today from my mechanic and he says I need a throttle return bracket and spring, anyone know the part number and where I can get one?
