" Ok, so I am getting a 1968 Jeep pickup. I haven't seen it yet, the guy
" said he can't get it running and is just too frustrated with it to mess
" with it anymore. Has a 6 cylinder, he said he thinks it is the 232. Would
" that be correct? Also has 3 speed. At this point that is all I know, I am
" going to try to go look at it tomorrow.
"
" Now, the questions. As I already asked, would this be the 232? If so,
" what is the difference between a 232 in a 1966 Rambler Classic and a
" 1968 Jeep Pickup? If I decide not to keep this thing would there be any
" interest in it? not sure yet what I am going to do with it. I might keep
" it and fix it, I might sell it off or I might part it out. Alot depends
" on the condition. Will post more details once I get a look at it.

ken's right, it's a 232, and very little different from a rambler
engine. one difference i think is that it should have the short water
pump used by amc only on the '65 american 232. iirc the tranny should
be a t85/t89, full synchro side shifter.
willys used the continental 226 mostly in the '50s and the ohc 230
something like '62-4 [excepting the m715].
