Kaiser Jeep replaced the 230 OHC "Tornado" six with the AMC 232 beginning in 1965 in Wagoneers and J-Trucks. CJs got the 225 V-6. Best torque for the 232 was 215 lb/ft @ 1600 rpm, best for the 225 V-6 was 235 lb/ft @ 2400 rpm. Kaiser either couldn't build enough of hte V-6s to keep up or felt that the lower rpm torque was better for the bigger, heavier vehicles.
