Okay, got home and remembered to look at a TSM! The system I described (1/2" metal tube running from side cover to intake under carb) is used on 1962 CA cars only with any carb. In 1963 all cars used it. Beginning in 1964 there was a 1" RUBBER TUBE going from the side cover to the side of the breather for 1V carbs, the previous 1/2" tube and PCV valve was continued only on 2V carb models. The rubber tube was a molded tube with the appropriate bend near the air cleaner, straight from the side cover to just above the valve cover. So it was "semi flexible". The bend near the breather is almost 90 degrees. You might want to use vinyl tubing and a 90 degree fitting near the top. Black plastic water pipe would work if the I.D. is right (and they still make it), clear vinyl would look bad after running a while.
