Re: 79 Jeep question

I know the XJ Cherokee radiators are vastly different than passenger cars (short and wide), but I didn't think the SJ (full size) radiator was much, if any, different. Ahh, but reading your post again, I see you're referring to the mount brackets, not the size of the tanks and core itself. So to use this radiator in a car the brackets will have to be replaced with car type brackets. Not to difficult to do, just remember they are silver soldered or silver brazed, or at least has a high silver content solder, not plain solder. Can still be done with a propane torch, though a MAPP gas torch will be better. Use thin silver brazing wire from a welding shop, not as expensive as it sounds.

It should have a deeper oil pan that holds an extra quart -- no good on a car because it extends past the crossmember and catches everything (I know that from experience!). Just change the pan to a car type along with the pickup tube.
