Frank's correct, there never was a 2 speed BW in an AMC but if you go back a few years, the early cast iron BW 8's only had D and L.
Back to the 65 American, the 67 trans is not a direct bolt in. It would have had a cable for the throttle valve where the 67 would have a vacuum modulator and electric kickdown.
