muffled response

Got my Summit muffler from UPS today. Pretty damn solid object. In
my highly scientific test of yelling into one end of it, it damps
pretty well. Noticably quieter than discount type crimp jobs
(really).


I also got a dual OIL/TEMP mechanical gauge to mount under the
hood.  I hate oil pressure and vacuum gauges in the dash; they
make me distractingly nervous looking for impending doom ("isn't
the pressure about 3 psi low here?" "is that vacuum oscillation a
sticking valve?") but it's nice to check once in a while. Under
the hood it goes.

The nerve cells in my ass and brainstem feel the car, my ear
hears, that's enough. I'm not racing, I don't need to read the
f'ing novel.
