A: The ammeters have been the death of several FSJs that I know of as well 
(and other AMCs) They burned to the ground from corrosion on the wires on 
the back causing increased resistance till they ignited!

Good advice.  I had planned on putting in both a Volt and Water temp guage. 
I pretty much do it to all my old cars as I just don't like or trust those 
idiot lights.
