FOR SALE - FREE: 66 Classic Convertible

Friends,

I decided to pick up the car described below, but I have been trying to nail down a contractor for a garage to put it in for five months now. I have **finally** gotten a contract with one, thankfully. It's going to be a nice garage, too -- 21' x 60'.

However, I've probably worn out the owner's patience, and since it's still going to be another two months before the garage goes up, it would be better to offer this car to anyone who will get to it faster than me.

If you want it, it's FREE. You just have to come and get it.

One request - there are few enough Ramblers left. It would be better for the hobby if this car were preserved/restored rather than parted. There are already plenty of Classics left in junkyards, even today -- and THOSE we likely can't ever get back. If you want this one, please commit to restore it.

I will help you make arrangements to get it. Call 804-288-2766 or write me at Rambler@xxxxxxxxxx Thanks!!

If you have a Yahoo! login, you can get copies of the photos I took of the car here:

If you don't have a yahoo login, they are free (although they do ask a lot of nosy questions (but who said you had to answer them truthfully??).

Subject: BODY PARTS WANTED: 66 Classic Convertible

Friends,

Yesterday I went to look at a 66 Classic CONVERTIBLE being given away. It's near Fredericksburg VA.

A tree landed on the car. Fortunately, it seems to have damaged only the quarter panel and doesn't seem to have destroyed much of anything else. I'd like to price out trying to fix her up.

It needs the following panels:

1) #448-4189 - driver's side quarter panel
2) #___________ - the gussets that attach the trunk floor to the quarters
3) #3536298 - panel that goes under the trunk lid and connects the two quarters

It will probably also need #351-5649, which is the panel that the door striker is mounted upon.

If any of you vendors have these panels, or if any of you with a two-door hardtop parts car wish to Sawzall the entire assembly off your car and sell it to me for a couple of hundred or less, please write me.

I haven't picked up the car yet, whether I do or not will be determined by whether or not I think it can be repaired reasonably. If I can find the quarters (cheaply, I intend to bring it straight to a body shop.

If you have a Yahoo! login, you can see photos of this car here:
