Theory is that that increases flow velocity iirc. That engine was done for performance within a budget, and I heard reports that it's a strong 360, but if you think about it, even using a small head on the 360 but aiming for mileage, the velocity aspect of this could help in that regard as well, it just wouldn't have high rpm's, but should produce great torque where you need it.
