I'll look at it better once I pull it out from under the work bench! It may be as simple as the condensor. I bought it off of Tim Linto out of a 60,000 mile 66 conv that had been sitting for years. He said he had it craning over, but couldn't get it to start and thought it needed a chain. I know I checked it and there is some slop before the dist moves, but how much I don't remember and I can't remember if Tim said it had spark or not. It's as much an excersize to see if it is a good engine as anything. I almost hope it isn't, I've got enough stuff laying around here. If it is worn out I can get rid of it. Even good a 287 probably won't be a big seller!
