Re: A/C in a V8 1972 Gremlin...hoses?

Joe,
  This ones real easy.
You take whatever brackets you have a full set of and mount everything up.
Then you take whatever hoses you have and check them to see if they fit.
They do! Yeah your done.
They don't fit :[
Then you put the fittings on the compressor and whatever the other end runs to. You cut the hoses. Go get Barrier hose for A/C in lengths long enough to work. Install them on your fittings. Mark the hoses for orientation. They will not allow rotation on the fittings once done! Use a marker and some tape to make sure evrything fits well and hoses are rotated properly. Take them to a hydraulic shop and have them crimped on. You are now ready to charge it up and go. If you are useing R-12. if you upgrade to 134A or another replacement coolant. You want to make sure your compressor has compatable oil in it and all hoses are changed to have barrier hoses as 134A will migrate through old R-12 hose. Always use new O-rings, make sure they are compatable with the refrigerant you pick.
Use the web and do some reading before you proceed. If you have access to R-12 and The system works well now. I'd stay with R-12. Pricey but the easiest way to go and best cooling.
Also Get a newer radial style compressor. Buy an adapter bracket or get the stuff from a late 80's to 91 Grand Cherokee. They are more efficient. The old compressors that AMC used in the 70's suck massive amounts of horsepower and vibrate!
