Well, if you're keeping it in the Jeep (thought you were looking for a donor), why worry about 2 or 4 wheel drive if the price is right? I imagine the same reason I wanted a 2WD -- a little better mileage and reliability. But there were plenty 2WD models in GA, no problem finding one! If I were in your shoes and not ready to fly down to GA (or somewhere in the vicinity) and drive back I'd look for a deal on a 4x4 locally. You can always pull the front driveshaft out and call it a 2WD... ;> I'd wire the shift motor in place and put some locking hubs on myself. I'm assuming they make locking hubs that will fit the Dana 30 front axle in XJs, of course!
