I was thinking more along the lines of reducing the amount of
trim and simplifying the rest, making it more like the 63 Classic. There is no trim on the A pillars beside the windshield on the Classic, for example. I think there is on the Hornet. How would it look if that piece wasn't there? Like the Classic? Or does it do more than just trim it up a bit more? Just cover the things that really need it or where the piece holds someting else in place -- again, like the early 60s cars. Would probably make it look "plainer" and "cheaper" though. >
Funny, I was picturing my 62 AMbo, which had inside trim. THe 63 doesn't have any, on the A, B or C pillars -- must be one a them Teague tricks he pult :-) The pillar metal itself is clean enough to *be* trim, with only welting along the butt edges -- very f'ing clever!
THe hornet, alas, has a very rough 'interior' space, flanged for the stick-on windshield. It requires trim to cover up the internal ugliness.
I now appreciate the design of my 63 one notch more. Maybe my next-next car will be a 64 2-door!
