All the M35s used in Ramblers were aluminum cased. My guess is Jag needed/wanted something a little tougher so a custom iron case was used with M35 guts. All the early BW trannys had a rear clutch, but from about 66 on they did away with it. Since the case is different they likely allowed for addition of an external cooler for performance and/or towing duties. There would have to be special provisions for the lock-up (D/D) torque converter too. Wonder if one of those would fit an AMC M35 bell? Of course finding an old Jag trans is probably harder than finding another M35!! On April 3, 2005 Geoff Harrison wrote: > Hi, My 1959 2.4 Jag had a BW J35. It had an aftermarket oil cooler on it.
