Tom, do it your self, its not that hard, and allot more fun. Once you do it
you won't be afraid of breaking your tranny anymore.
You can get a VHS video from JC Whitney, the video covers the 727 but the
904 and 998 are almost the same as noted in the ATSG manual, the Chrysler
727 repair video (Cat #WA811398R is $34.50) and the professional shop manual
ATSG for the 904-998-727 is (Cat #WA167287Y for $14.99).
Then get either the TCI severe duty kit #TCI-129005 for $163.95 or the
racing kit TCI-148900 for $118.95, or the Pro Racing Super Kit TCI-129000
for $169.95 from PAW, phone # 818-678-3000.
Most Tranny shops will rebuild the converter for less than $100.00, (and
most of them only run high temp oil through them for cleaning, Check to see
if they have the cutting machine to cut them open, clean, repair, and then
rewield then.)

My local old-car-friendly trans guy wants $750 to rebuild my 904,
with a TransGo kit and a rebuilt converter. Work quality is high.
Is this a decent price? I know about the 998, I just don't have
one, and only a mildly hopped 258 is going in front of it.
Is a solid 2nd band worth it? Any mods that will get me increased
longevity? Clearly I'll put a good cooler on it.
I want to drop it off Tuesday, install the @#$%^ thing in two weeks.
