Re: Identifying the T-5 5 Speed

Everything I have read, states 265 ft lb of torque rating till 1990 World Class or not on the V-8 Mustang trans. Less on others. Now I was doing some reading yesterday and it stated 305 Z28 LB9 came with T-5 in 87 and the engine was rated with a higher torque rating than 265! And still hooked up to the non World class T-5. So I wonder what was up with that? Maybe just another case of G.M. saying, "Lets build it anyway"!
>From my days at the AMC Jeep Dealers in 1980's I don't remember working on many broken T-5s. We had a few Harsh shift complaints and one or two that started popping out of gear, but none that ever sheared any teeth. That's why I'm ont concerned with trying to convert mine to world class specs. Non world class on a fresh rebuild will suit me fine.
