Based on my experience with aftermarket flywneels (including Schieffer) is that these flywheels are "neutral" balanced, rather than "Detroit" balanced.

Stock AMC 6-cylinder flywheels are "Neutral" balanced, where 232 & 258 engines take the same flywheel.

But stock AMC V8 engines have bobweights on the flywheel and each engine sise requires a flywheel balanced to match that particular recriprocating mass. That is why All AMC V8 flywheels are balanced differently, even though they will all "bolt up" to the engine.

This is why I am very reluctant to purchase used flywheels, as I have to rely upon the seller for what engine it came from.

This is also why having a rebuilt engine balanced is cheap insurance.
