Re: American trans swap



I didn't know about the starter location change between the 196 and 199/232!! Thanks a lot guys! The Postal Jeeps used a T-35 (M-35) behind the 232 for a lot longer than AMC used that trans in cars, even after AMC switched to Torque Flites. My bet is that the mid 70s Postal Jeeps with the T-35 use the small pattern.

The best bet, unfortunately, would be to pull a complete 258 with TF trans and swap that in. Then there wouldn't be as many problems, unless a 199/232 BW trans is located. Did you change to a different trans or overcome the problem AJ??
