So much > for being independent! I have considered running for a board seat or president of AMO for some time. I didn't really intend to announce anything, but it just came up in that Forum post. That wasn't my reason for recommending AMO, my reasons for recommending (largest and strongest) is one of the reasons I'm considering getting more involved. There have been a lot of recent changes in AMO, changes for the better. Those changes are for the betterment of the hobby as a whole, AMO in particular IMHO. And I will still recommend NAMDRA to anyone who says their main interest is in racing. I was just starting to get really involved in the AMC hobby right after the big beef between Classic AMX Club and AMO, and AMCRC split off from AMO (more or less). I know all about the political problems. The "old guard" has been chaning recently. Mitchell stepped out, even Frank Wrenick stepped down from AMCRC (though I know of no one who ever had a beef with him). AMO officers have been changing as well. I think there are more changes necessary, and feel that I can help make them. We all have a choice -- get involved or sit on the sidelines. I've been involved, but in an indirect sort of way. I think maybe it's time to get more directly involved. That's where my military service comes in handy and becomes pertinent. Today's military isn't just a sargent or officer barking orders and expecting them to be carried out. It's a lot more enouragement, cooperation, management, and leading, though there are still times orders must be issued and executed. In 22 years I've been through all phases from follower to leader, and many changes as well. I think the management skills and diplomacy I've learned as a senior NCO (non commisioned officer, for those who don't know) will be useful to the AMC hobby. Of course, I might not be accepted... ============================================================= Posted by wixList Archiver -- http://www.amxfiles.com/wixlist
