I'm catching up after a 1000 mile trip in a '67 AMC Rebel Wagon; I managed to avoid all the bad weather - snowstorm last weekend, and ice storm in the Carolinas today. Got home last night. Anyway, it had been suggested to me to stop by the Pikeville NC AMC dealership. I had stayed in a Holiday Inn near Rocky Mount, NC which I left before dawn and arrived in Pikeville right at sunup. Found the dealership OK. I don't know whether this place was great, depressing, or spooky. It's like they just threw a fence up around it when the dealership closed. There had to be a 100 AMC's around there, and a smaller number of other make cars. Some were so overgrown with weeds and brush you could barely make out there was a car there, much less make/model! There was a small office trailer near the one gate, but I was there early, and it was maybe 20 degrees out, so I didn't hang around. Does anyone know the story of this place? By the way, my Rebel Wagon with a 232-3 speed purred right along with no problems! I ran 65-70 all the way down, didn't burn any oil, and got 20+ mpg!
