This morning I finally picked up the 196 cast iron engine and OD tranny from the junkyard. The 64 Classic which had been it's home for 41 years was crushed yesterday. I also got a 62 AMBO tinted windshield from another local junkyard. This AMBO was a pretty nice car when it went into the junkyard about two years ago. I tried halfheartedly to buy it but could not ever really connect directly with the owner, just with the counterman in the yard. It's white over rose and was sold new, according to the original manual which was in the car, in Gilroy, CA. I didn't even know Gilroy had a Rambler dealership at one time. It has been a local car ever since. All of the AC stuff is still on the car. The yard will pull parts, but they will not ship. The 327/auto engine and tranny are still there. I got the front bumper and the reclining split bench front seats for my 62 Classic wagon. The junkyard is Salinas Auto Wreckers. There's an office in Salinas and another number for the junkyard itself. Now I have most of the stuff necessary to put the 62 Classic wagon into running condition. Regards, Joe Fulton Salinas, CA
