> Now if one of these muscle mags will just pick up >an article about >#6 Donohue's >70 Javelin, "(Care to enlighten us "less informed" AMC fans? TY)" Sure, I'd love to enlighten everyone about this car. It's my favorite by a long shot of all the Trans AM entries, current day included, and let me tell you I have seen some of the best groundpounders around in Trans Am. When those cars race at Road America they make your blood boil. So do Formula Atlantics.............anyway, Oh yeah where was I, the url's below are about #6, Mark Donohue's 1970 Javelin Trans Am race car as prepared by Roger Penske racing. It was the first year for Donohue and Penske to team up with AMC and by golly they nearly succeeded in handing the off brands their arse in a handbasket, the first year they worked together!!!!!!! Donohue came so close to showing the big three what real race cars can do that the very next year all the chicken s**t off brands took their factory support away because they feared a total dominance by Donohue Penske and AMC and they could claim no participation as the reason AMC was so dominant. What Horse Hockey!!!! They were cringing in fear of tiny little AMC, and wanted to diffuse themselves from losing face. OH golly I got way off again. Anyway the url's have some great shots of the car in it's pristine resto condition, the bottom one is my favorite shot of the car. I think Mr. Brooke Mossgrove either restored the car or currently owns it and had some one else restore it, I'm not sure. Thanks To John Rosa for the website. http://www.javelinamx.com/JavHome/race/race.htm http://www.javelinamx.com/JavHome/race/new-ta9.jpg Wouldn't an article in Car Craft about the restoration of the beginning of AMC factory racing be some great use of ink and paper!!!!!!
