Re: T19 good for performance?

I don't think you want it for a performance tranny unless you start out in second gear. According to this site

http://cjford.stormloader.com/Tech/mantransinfo1.htm

The first gear is a granny gear on the T-19 and T-19A.

Subject: T19 good for performance?

OK, so I am getting the RUNNING 401 and it looks like
it has the T19. I have never heard of this tranny in
performance applications. It appears to be the 2WD,
closer ratio version of the venerable T18 which has
stood many hard working miles behind 401 and 360 J
trucks I have had.

So any educated opinions on the viability of the T19
as a performance tranny for my little strip car I am
hoping to get setup this season? I may just slap a
new timing gear, cam and intake, maybe headers on the
401 and head to the strip.

I was going to use the short Th400 setup I made mixing
the FSJ TH400 with a short tail Buick TH400, however,
I really like slamming my own gears... though I will
probably never be as consistently at Bracket Racing
that way... I am not in it for the money at this
point! (I know Blaine would encourage the Auto!)

THanks again guys!
