Re: axle shafts (was Re: Islam-a-Bad)

A: I would put in a spare axle (we have the fsjparts@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx list
for that stuff as well as almost 100 FSJ lists and BBS plus other Jeep
boards) My own D44 closed knuckle axle will be out soon and replaced with
the D44 from a J20 (you can run '70s F150 axle with high steer arms and get
disc brakes with the same 5 on 5 1/2" pattern) Open knuckle is far superior
(and easier to work on!) not to mention easier to get parts for.

I have the D60-2 in the rear, and a closed-knuckle D44HD from a '67 J-3000.
The passenger side u-joint went, and took the axle ends with it. I'm looking
to replace the '67 D44 shafts with stronger units. Used D60 front ends are
almost as expensive as a NEW D60 front here, so a swap is too pricy for me.
I have heard of Moser, Strange Engineering, and Warn. I'm looking for the
stronger aftermarket chrome-moly ones, about SAE 4340, preferably with the
760X u-joint.

Do you know of, or had dealings with , a good, reputable company that sells
these? I need a new set ASAP, so I can get the old girl back on the road

(and the trail).
