Re: Introduction: New 65 Rambler owner

Speaking of rattle can paint jobs, I've been using DupliColor brand paint on my American as I've been de-rusting it with pretty good results (my website address is below). The key to a decent looking paint job is to make sure you have a solid base. AMC used good quality paint and applied it thick so it typically survives pretty well (except in places like Texas and Arizona where the summer sun will bake the heat tiles off of the Space Shuttle) so if you can get down to the factory paint or at least the primer, you should have a good base to work from.

I also had my El Camino painted at a local Macco with pretty good results but you'll need to pull all of the trim off yourself and spring for the more expensive paint to get a decent paint job from them.

Don't expect a show type finish with either method but if you're careful, you can do halfway decent with the rattle cans and pretty okay with Macco.

As far as basic information about your car is concerned, take a look at http://www.amcyclopedia.org/tiki-index.php?page=1964-65+American. There's also a "Reader's Rides" section on this website that you can post a picture or two of your car to (you'll have to register first).

fixed the contest 6 years later and bought it! The car is white..and

my wife is that I paint it ASAP!

So Hello everyone! Glad to be aboard. If anyone knows anything about my
