A: As a member of AMC-list and multiple Jeep lists, plus a 727 trans afficionado, I'd like to point out that I can get the torque converter from Sea-Tac transmission in South Seattle in various stall speeds. IIRC, 1200 was stock stall for the V8s and 1500 for the 6 cyls. The only way to tell if your trans is lockup or not is to pull the trans pan and see if there is a 5/16" S shaped tube on top of the valve body, or remove the trans and see if the hole in the middle of the trans input shaft is much deeper than 1 1/2". (shallow is non-lockup. Deep has a hole that the oil for the lockup passes through to engage the lock clutch) Message-ID: <20041022145304.3806.qmail@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Fri, 22 Oct 2004 07:53:04 -0700 (PDT) From: Greg Taylor <amundaza@xxxxxxxxx> Subject: Re: 1986 jeep grand wagoneer To: mail@xxxxxxxxxxxx --- Laddie Williams <aspllc2000@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > I have a 1986 grand wagoneer (full size) with an amc > 360 v8 and a 727 tf transmission. > > Does anyone know the the factory stall speed is on the > converter? > > Does anyone know if it is a lockup or non lockup from > the factory. > > I cant seem to find anyone who makes a 2000 stall > speed converter to fit my application with a lockup > converter. > > My jeep has an edelbrock performer-plus cam, sure seat > springs, and an rpm air gap manifold. > > I have also installed a holley 2bl 670cfm tbi system. > > Does anyone have any suggestions for a torque > converter? > > Thanks, > > Laddie Williams Laddie, I'll forward your email to the Full Size Jeep List ... someone there should be able to help you out.
