I'm not a painter, but believe that you need to be careful with the lacquer; 
it will work fine over existing lacquer, but I believe that it will attack 
enamel and many other finishes.  You may be able to seal the old finish 
first and then use lacquer; perhaps others more knowledgeable can offer 
advice on that.
