My '82 has the stepper (I unplugged it while the motor was cold) but I haven't done the nutter bypass yet (it still ran good otherwise after I adjusted it) I plan on jeep mpefi swap (998 trans is acting badly due to the converter acting like the neck is cracked) A converter going bad (lockup engaging right off idle) will make these rigs stall too. My first and third Eagles had that problem and rather than replace the converters, I dropped the valvebody and plugged off the tube for the lockup with a .022 BB and it stopped the stalling (fuel economy on the highway dropped slightly) Date: Tue, 09 Feb 2010 19:09:08 -0700 From: Ken Ames To: "AMC, Rambler, Nash, Jeep and family" Subject: Re: [AMC-list] Non stepper motor 1982 258 Message-ID: Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 82 Concord should have the stepper motor on carburetor. If someone has taken that carb off and replaced it with a non-stepper there should likely be the wiring for the stepper still hanging around the harness between the carb and the firewall.
