What causes the confusion is some guys idea of interchangeability! The bushing at the upper pivot is indeed the same on all of the AMC's I have ever seen, ALL of them! You can and I have take a 68 AMX set of pedals and put them in an American. The total length was different, the clutch linkage hookup was WAY wrong. The Brake pedal would have been the closest to useable. I had a lot more trouble finding the correct American pedals than I thought I would so I started to work on making them work. IIRC, I redrilled for the brake actuator rod and made that connection. I then proceeded to try and work out how to get the clutch to work. As I said the Zbar was not even close. On the MAX is wen into the Strut bracket, on the American it goes to the unitbody rail.I was considering whether to try and make it work for real when a local guy told me of a yard near here that was not in the phone book and had a 67 American. That ended me attempt! -- Mark Price Morgantown, WV 1969 AMC Rambler, 4.0L, EFI, T-5 2004 Grand Cherokee Laredo, 4.7L, Quadratrac II " I realize that death is inevitable.
