When the 4.0L head is installed on the bore the chamber on it is wider than the early 199/232/258 bores. >From what I read from John it appears that perhaps even the stock heads had this same problem. The theory is to take the bore and taper it out to match the cylinder head ring in the head gasket or thereabouts. You do the taper from where the ring stops up or of course you'll screw the pooch! uh, well, nevermind on that one... The Jeepstrokers.com forum has some good pics and explains it well.
