Fantastic point Mark! That's the main advantage of EFI, the engine gets a near complete tune-up every 30 seconds or less! Now if the computer could just change the plugs, rotor, wires, and cap (for those of use with older, non coil-on-plug EFI!)... Of course with good electronic ignition and quality parts those really aren't much of an issue for 50K miles or more. When you're traveling across the country with lots of altitude and climate changes there's a noticeable increase in economy. Or if you live in an area with big climate changes you'll notice it with a year long average. Carb would have to be tuned every couple months at least to come close to EFI in that scenario. Put well tuned EFI and carb engines in a controlled climate clean room on a dyno and there will be little (if any) difference. Depends on which is tuned better! ------------ Date: Fri, 04 Jan 2008 16:11:45 +0000 From: Wrambler242@xxxxxxxxxxx Keep in mind, if you tune for a stable climate and altitude you will most likely see a very marginal increase in mpg. Ask John Elle, When the car is tuned right what is efi going to do that the carb doesn't? Very, very, little. -- Frank Swygert Publisher, "American Motors Cars" Magazine (AMC) For all AMC enthusiasts http://farna.home.att.net/AMC.html (free download available!) _______________________________________________ Amc-list mailing list Amc-list@xxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.amc-list.com/mailman/listinfo/amc-list
