Re: [Amc-list] lite weight alum. conformable propane tank

Many many station wagons in Australia have donut tanks that fit in where the
spare wheel goes

The spare wheel then sits on the floor in the back or goes on its side

I am sure these type of tanks are safe

Australia and especially Victoria is a nanny state everybody is wrapped in
cotton wool and not allowed to do anything remotely unsafe

I would be happy fitting one of these type tanks if I had the appropriate
type car

Our Federal government runs a rebate scheme

You get a 2 k rebate if you convert a new or second hand car to LPG

As you can imagine it is very popular

An old type gas install using a mixer upstream of your TB or carbie you can
get for a few hundred dollars after rebate

The newer injection type costs a couple of grand after rebate

The second type they pretty much guarantee the same or better performance
you got on petrol

LPG is usually about half the price of petrol a litre here

"Thank you for your enquiry for our Flat Propane
Tanks."

i strongly urge not to buy a "flat" propane tank.
there is a specific reason propane tanks are
cylindrical. same reason ANY high pressure tank is
cylindrical. look at your oxy acetelen tanks, argon,
every high pressure tank. a cylinder is much stronger
than anything with angles. and the high pressures they
endure, let alone if an angled tank unfortunately got
hit in a wreck, is easier to puncture. propane is much
more flameable than gas also. people tend to think the
other way. propane disipates into the atmosphere
faster than gas so it seems like it is not as
flameable.

we used to be propane distributors, and had to take
classes on the stuff is the only reason i know. just
dont want to see someone make a mistake because some
moron wants to make some quick bucks by selling
something unsafe, but apealing.

DONT BUY THE FLAT PROPANE TANK!!!!

my suggestion
