I think the early single-turbo, 550hp motor (which I have) was high-revved (7000 +) but the final motor (twin turbo, 750hp) was 6000 or so redlined. It appears at 45psi boost! Umm I'm assuming when I get it to go, I will de-tune it to 400hp range or so. Barney had (someone else's) bag of money and a 500 mile target. I have some pennies and rusty nails and want it to last a bit longer than that. The most challenging part of this motor to me is the O-ringed head business, and a suitable fuel::air source. I'm favoring a huge-ass carburetor like the original. Missing conn rods, will have to cough up real $ for those. Oh yeah, and the little detail of a car to put it in. I stay awake at night kicking myself for not going into debt bidding on the transaxle and clutch stuff. ===.=== I understand totally - As to Rods - search eBay for: NASCAR connecting rods they have various one run only rods showing up there - don't know if they'll have the correct 'Big End' sizing tho - stupid cheap for Carillo's - $175-250. The AMC 360 rods can be had in FORGED from MadDog Racing for around $200.00 a set - a Bargain - . Yeah, I'd say if you're going Transaxle get one out of a PORSCHE - spin the ring gear over to function having the engine out front rather than out back - the 914 owners do frequently when upping the ante to a Flat 6 or V8. A 'Big' carb is gonna' 'Bog' unless your Turbo comes on 'right now' - & will be a 'Bear' to street - I'm presuming you want to run all the intake bits that came with the engine - if you don't mind a slight 'upgrade' - find a 70s' Mercedes 6 with Bosch Mechanical injection - drill / tap for the hard lined injectors - and it will look killah. Beats the crap out of 'pressurizing' a carb and keeping it from killing the engine. For a single Turbo - talk with 'Jamie' @ www.mjmturbo.com I have stats on his recommendation for the AMC inliner - came out somewhere around $550.00 for the snail. -- =Bt= milnersXcoupe -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
